Green Island is located at Lake Conjola on the NSW South Coast (not to be mistaken with Green Island in QLD).

It is located approximately 80 kms ( 1 hour south of Jervis Bay) and 216 km (3 hours drive) south of Sydney.

This spot is one of the best flat-water kitesurfing spots on the NSW south coast.

If the swell is pumping, you will get some nice rolling swells wrapping around the point to ride on.

This spot works best in a NE (cross-off-shore) or SE breeze for flat water but can also work on S however it gets more bumpy.

Mid to low tide is best.

Whilst the NE is cross-off-shore, the water is mostly waist-deep and it is actually blowing you back towards the main beach if you get into trouble.

The water is generally crystal-clear and blue and there are no surfers in the area as they are further out on the point in the wind shadow.

It is also possible to kite on the inside of the lake entrance in a SE breeze however don’t sail too far inland as you will run out of wind due to the sand dunes.

Access & Launching

The best access to this spot is via Cunjurong Point which puts you on the beach to launch from.

You can access the beach via Ottawa Street at Cunjurong Point where you will find some parking and public toilets near the beach.

You will need to walk south on the beach for about 10 mins to get to the best spot to rig and launch.

Alternatively, you can wade across the the inlet on low tide to the launch area however there can be a strong current and the wind can be very gusty.

This launch area can be accessed by driving through the Holiday Haven Camping Park to the end of the road.
