Kurnell is arguably one of the windiest places in Sydney and offer great flat water sailing for kitesurfers, windsurfers & wingers.
It works best in a NE breeze which is usually 5 knots stronger than the other side of the Bay and is definitely less gusty making it ideal. NW is OK as it is onshore but can be gusty. It also works in a W but not for beginners as its dangerously gusty.
In the right conditions Kurnell can be an ideal beginners spot for all wind sports however kiting can be dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing. So either talk to locals before rigging up and heading out or take a lesson from a qualified instructor there.
The water is protected around the rocky groynes offering some nice flat water whilst out further you will get some nice chop for bump-and-jump.
