Kyeemagh, Botany Bay (NSW, Australia)
Kyeemagh is located on Botany Bay right next to Sydney Airport (south-west side).
This is a very popular flat-water sailing spot for Sydney windsurfers (Kitesurfers are not allowed at this spot). It can be pretty exhilarating blasting across the water next to a big jet taking off.
The spot works best in a NE (predominant summer breeze) or S breeze.
Given that the water is shallow for about 50m out, this is also a great beginners spot in a NE breeze. E & S can also work but the water can get a bit choppy.
Access & Launching
Kyeemagh Beach car park is where most windsurfers park.
There is a nice grassy area in front of the car park for rigging and then it is just a short walk to the sandy beach from there.
Just a few minutes walk along the path you will find public toilets, a kiosk and kids playground.
You can also bring your pooch along as this beach is dog friendly.
Hazards
Botany Bay can sometimes get inundated with big jelly fish however they aren’t deadly and don’t sting.
There are also shark warning signs along the beach however sharks are rarely sighted here.
Here are a couple of videos showing the area...
