Primbee, Lake Illawara
Also known as the “Primbee Weed Flats”, this is a great place for windsurfers and kitesurfers to go fast on flat water in a NE breeze as the weeds stop the water from chopping up. The degree of weeds can vary from season to season and you will need a weed fin (recommend 40-50 deg rake).
Launch from Bundah Place Drive where you will find plenty of parking and good area for kites to rig.
Due to the launching area being on a protruding spit, this spot also works in a number of other wind directions; W, S & SE where you sail across the weed flats into the deeper water for a bit of bump-and-jump action in the chop.
This spot can be sailed all-year-round with big westerly winds during winter offering great flat water sailing.
