Gold Coast - Anglers Park (QLD, Australia)
Wing Foiling, Kiting & Windsurfing at Anglers Park
Anglers Park (also referred to as Jennifer Ave) on the Gold Coast in Queensland is a popular spot for Windsurfing, Kitesurfing & Wing foiling. It is a nice wide stretch of water across the broad water with small chop in a solid breeze, ideal for blasting and bump-and-jump.
It is not as tidal dependent as Shearwater Park so if the tide is running in the same direction as the wind this is a better option.
There are also very few things to run into here such as anchored boats and sandbars.
Suited To
The water here is reasonably well protected and doesn’t get too rough so it is suited to beginners and up. There is virtually no shore break so it would be easy to stay close to shore when taking those first steps.
Best Wind Directions
This spot works in a S, SE, N & NE breeze and is best when the wind is against the tide but also works in wind with tide.
The windy season here is during the summer months from October to March.
Water
The water here is mostly blue and clear and temperatures here ranges from around 20 deg C during winter to 27 deg C during summer. So most of the time wetsuits are optional particularly during summer.
It is generally pretty flat but can chop up a bit in a strong southerly.
Access, Rigging & Launching
Access via Jennifer Avenue. Here you will find plenty of free parking and a nice grassy rigging area right next to your car park. There is a lovely beach to launch from with little to no shore break.
It is also a nice safe place for a swim.
Hazards
The main hazards here are sandbars. There is a sandbar that runs north to south about 100m off-shore but it is really only a problem for foilers at low tide. The water is pretty clear so it is reasonably obvious as you approach it, but always do with caution until you are sure you will clear it (particularly those on a foil).
The broad water is know for the odd shark but they are not seen very often due to the amount of boat traffic but just be aware.

1 Review on “Gold Coast - Anglers Park (QLD, Australia)”
I really liked this spot for wing foiling even though it was blowing about 20 – 25 knots from the SE and all I had was a 6 sail! In particular this section of water in the broad water is open and free of anchored boats and even the sand bars are pretty easy to navigate. There was a bit of chop but no shore break so launching was super easy, I only had to wade out about 10m from the shore to get over 1m in depth. There is parallel parking along the foreshore next to a grassy area so you can drop your gear out of the car straight into the grass. Rig and then it’s about 20m to the water’s edge. I think this would be one of my favourite spots to sail on the Gold Coast.
