Wing Foiling at Currumbin Creek

Currumbin Creek is located at Currumbin on the Gold Coast just north of Coolangatta.

When the wind blows from the NE, local wing foilers from around the Gold Coast flock to this spot which is ideal for flat-water-sailing and is also very beginner friendly.

The body of water isn’t huge so it is not really suited to windsurfing unless you are a beginner with a big board then it would be ideal.

Access, Rigging & Launching

The best pace to launch is from the North side of the Currumbin Creek bridge. From there you will find free parking and a very easy few steps onto the sandy beach where you can rig .

The shore gradient is steep into the channel so you don’t have to wade out too far before getting deep enough for the foil.

Potential Hazards

As this is a tidal estuary the water levels go up and down creating tidal currents & exposing sandbars.
