Dahab Bay is actually made up of 5 different zones to separate kites & windsurfers and dedicated areas for beginners & improvers. This spot receives wind all year-round with the best being April to October, The windsurfing and kitesurfing centres are open all year round as well.
Area 1 – Windsurf Lagoon
This is for Windsurfers only, kite surfers can head further left into the shallow lagoon dedicated to kites.
This 2.5 km long lagoon is separated from the open sea by a sand spit. Much of the area has shallow spots for standing which is ideal for beginners and intermediates. If you get tired and can sail back to the main beach you can always walk back in the shallow. For the more advanced, they can access the other windsurfing zones (2 & 3) from this area also.
Area 2 – Speedy & Baby Bay
This is another windsurf only zone which offers world-class flat water sailing, ideal for freestylers, speed sailing and for people wanting to improve their skills such as gybing. The water is protected to the east by a large reef and to the north by a large sand spit so when the wind blows from the NE as it usually does the water is very smooth. There is also a floating platform in this area where windsurfers can take a break.
Area 3 – Wave Zone
This area is for both kitesurfers and windsurfers who want to access some great intermediate wave sailing & bump-and-jump.
The area is just outside of the Napolean Reef which separates A1 & A2 from the open sea. Great for an introduction to wave sailing on swells up to 3 metres.
Area 4 – Kitesurf Lagoon
This spot is the ultimate location for beginner & intermediate kitesurfers (windsurfers not allowed) to learn and improve. The shallow turquoise blue lagoon is shallow and you can stand up anywhere in the lagoon. The area is separated from the windsurf learning & improver zone 1 by a sand spit so there is no confusion where everyone should be.
Area 5 – Kitesurf Open Sea Area
This area is to the leeward side of the A2 windsurf zone and offers advanced kiters a large body of water to open up the accelerator and do some advanced freeriding.
