Windsurf or Wing foil at Dawson Avenue
This spot in Brighton is often known as Dawson Street, but the actual location as in the name of the street is Dawson Avenue, which is located in Brighton, very near to Elwood Beach and on Port Phillip Bay approximately 9km SE of Melbourne.
The spot is a well known location for both slalom blasting and also bump and jump sailing, the spot gets some nice waves in a decent southerly, which are perfect for perfecting your forward loops and jumping. The local crowd is really friendly. In more recent years both this location and Elwood have become the main wingding spots on this side of the bay.
The spot is also known as po’okipa, because of the fun waves being located at the end of a rain water outlet. Don’t be put off though, you’ll have an awesome time sailing this here. If you struggle for parking here, it is very easy to park at Elwood beach and then sail up to Dawsons and back.
