Green Point is located between South Rd and Gould St, Brighton and is a great spot for Melbourne locals when the wind blows from the NNW to S. It is particularly of interest in those hot northerly wind days where other areas at the head of Port Phillip Bay don’t work very well.
Kitesurfing is not permitted here however there is a great kitesurfing spot just a few kms back towards Melbourne at Brighton Beach which works in similar wind directions.
There is a car park on the bluff and some grassy areas where you can rig and then just a short stroll to the waters edge via a protected sandy beach.
However, be aware if you are not a resident of Bayside council with a foreshore pass, car parking is incredibly expensive at $15 for the first hour and $18 for the day…ouchh!!
There is a small rocky reef off the point that riders need to be aware of.
