Inverloch Angling Club (Victoria, Australia)
Inverloch (Andersons Inlet) is located in SE Victoria in South Gippsland approximately 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne.
This is a great spot for windsurfing & kitesurfing for all levels.
Andersons Inlet at Inverloch offers some of the best flat water blasting and speed sailing in Australia.
WIND:The cleanest wind direction for the inlet is south west which is the predominant direction during the summer months. However winds all the way from east to south to west can work.
SAILING:This spot is ideal for flat water blasting when the tide is mid to low and as the water level rises so does the chop making it perfect for bump and jump.
ABILITIES:Due to the protected and shallow water this is an ideal place for beginners to learn to sail both kites and windsurfers. It is perfect for intermediates to learn gybing on flat water and for experts who want to go fast
SEASON:The season is typically in the warmer months from November through to March however you sometimes see the locals out for a desperate blast in the middle of winter.
WATER:The location is on an inlet and the channels run across the inlet. The water temps are moderate during summer but can be quite cold during winter. Because the spot is close to the opening to the ocean and tidal it gets flushed out with each tide with fresh ocean water.
RIGGING:For windsurfers there is a nice rigging area tucked away behind some small sand dunes & shrubs to the leeward side of the southerly winds. For kite surfers the sandy beach is generally large enough for rigging unless the tide is right up and there is a bit of a crowd.
LAUNCHING:Launching in on a lovely gradual sandy bottom with a gradual gradient.
POTENTIAL HAZARDS:The most prominent hazard here is the sand bars. Catching a fin on a sandbar at speed can be a bit scary. Also coming off a kite board in the shallows can be dangerous at speed. There can be a bit of a current but it is never too far from touching the bottom so this doesn't pose too much of a problem.
Accommodation in Inverloch
Inverloch is a small regional holiday town and doesn't have any large resort-style properties (yet) however there are lots of holiday homes available for rent. There are also a good number of pet friendly properties here.
There is a BIG 4 holiday park located right on Andersons Inlet at the main launching area that offers camp sites & cabins.
The town is pretty spread-out and if you think you might want to frequent the pub or some of the lovely little restaurants in town it is worth finding a place within walking distance to the town.

I really love this spot, it feels safe and when the wind direction, strength and tide all come together you will have some of the best flat water sailing you will find anywhere
