Kitesurfing Rosebud – Port Phillip Bay
Rosebud is located on the Mornington Peninsula on Port Phillip Bay about 1 hour drive from Melbourne.
It is fast becoming one of Melbourne’s most popular kitesurfing spots both during summer and winter.
This spot works best in N, NW, NE.
This section of the peninsula has kilometres of flat water with a clean sandy bottom and beautiful crystal-clear blue water.
You will find many advanced riders at Rosebud however it is also a fabulous place for beginners as the water rarely gets deeper than waist deep.
Access & Launching
The launching & landing area is pretty narrow and it is recommended you launch & land on the sandy beach and not the grass area behind the trees (as the north wind passes through the trees and bushes upwind).
Rosebud beaches can be extremely busy over the summer months so please be aware of your surroundings and other people in the area.
The area of Rosebud beach from the “grass area” to approximately car park “14” as its commonly known has been made the designated “wind sport” area & was up until the 40+ knot day a few weeks back marked with two large yellow buoys, one if which ended up on the beach due to the wind.
