Kitesurfing in Marlo at the Snow River Entrance
The Snowy River entrance at Marlo is said to be one of the best flat water kitesurfing spots in Victoria (up there with Sandy Point!).
It generally works best on an easterly but will also work in a S or SW breeze and in any tide but does not work on any off-shore breeze.
Here you will find lovely flat water inside the entrance, some swell as you travel through the channel and waves out in the ocean.
If the wind is against the tide it can get very choppy at the entrance however the inlet gets reasonably deep so remains fairly flat.
This is not a spot for beginner or intermediate sailors as there can be a strong current at the entrance. If you drop your kite in the entrance and you get drawn out to the surf it can be very challenging to get going again if you are not a competent sailor.
Also be aware of hazards such as floating driftwood or debris that has lodged in the sand like logs and branches as kiters have had extremely serious injuries from these things in the past.
Access & Launching
The tides will determine where you rig & launch as there is very little beach at high tide.
Where To Stay
If you decide to stay for a night or two there are a few options for accommodation in Marlo including a hotel (which is adjacent to the launching spot), some cabin rentals, a motel, a caravan park and a camping ground.
The Marlo Caravan Park offers powder and unpowered sites, on-site cabins & caravans (some with ensuites), camp kitchen and is pet friendly.

The Marlo Hotel has a bistro or the Snowy River Cafe offers quick bites.
