Willy Beach (Victoria, Australia)
Willy Beach is a local swimming beach for people in the western-suburbs of Melbourne on Port Phillip Bay.
When the wind blows from the W or the E the sailing can be quite good.
Getting off the beach can be a bit of a challenge due to the rocky groins at either end of the beach.
Southerlies don’t work to well as the shore-break can be horrific. In fat this is a popular surfing spot for long-boards in a southerly storm.
On the lower tides watch the reef on the western side (in front of Gloucester Reserve), it has claimed quite a few fins.
There is also a mini speed strip in Willi that has seen 36+ knots achieve.
