Sandy Bay, Exmouth (Western Australia)

Sandy Bay is proclaimed to be one of the best windsurfing & kitesurfing spots in WA for those that like to sail on flat water in a protected bay environment.

It is located 70km south of Exmouth on the Nargaloo coast (approx 1,300km north of Perth) in the Cape Range National Park (so no pets are allowed in the park).

The water in this marine park is blue and crystal clear and that bay has a sandy bottom.

Other activities include shore-based fishing (boat fishing is not allowed), swimming, snorkelling and kayaking are also popular at this location.

Abilities

The bay is relatively protected by a reef and is ideal for beginners when the wind is light and intermediate to advanced freeriders and slalom riders as the wind comes up.

Sailing

The sailing on Sandy Bay is ideal for both kiters and windsurfers with turquoise blue water and a sandy bottom

Seasons

The best season for wind is Oct to March with consistent sea breezes of 18+ knots. The warmest water temps are from December to June averaging 26 to 20 Deg C. The warmest average air temps are from November to April averaging 29 – 32 Deg C.
