Another popular spot sharing the same stretch of the beach in Bloubergstrand. It’s one of the first beaches in the bay to get wind and it is then that the waves are less choppy and more constant, meaning you could score a couple of awesome rides. Although, when the swell gets bigger, the waves tend to close out which makes the conditions more challenging. Otherwise, it’s another perfect spot for wave riders of all levels.

If the beach is busy here, you could also try one of the other local spots such as Milnerton or Big Bay.

Sailing

The waves at Sunsets can close out when they get big, but if you get there at the right time you’ll be able to score some awesome sets. Because of the wind at the spot the waves tend to be big to medium in size.

Seasons

The best time of year to sail here is in the warmer months between October to march, where it is pretty windy most days. In Big Bay’s high season the wind is over 25 knots 95% of the time.

Water

Cape town is not know for the warmest water, so be prepared.

Five different parking lots close to the beach. Isabella Drive, Hastula Way and Forata Drive are amongst the closest, but also the most popular, so might be too busy on a good day.
