Rene Egli Windsurfing Centre
The Rene Egli windsurfing centre is now the biggest windsurf centre in the world with over 450 boards, and over 1000 sails, all current models.
Located on the 1km beach, the centre is just 200m from the Meliã Gorriones Hotel and the Sol beach House Melia. It is also the venue for the World Cup which takes place in July each year. The 4km long and 200m wide shallow lagoon is tidal and fills up approximately 2 weeks out of every 4.
The centre provides training and courses for beginners and improvers on the lagoon, and for the more advanced on the open sea.
There is also a free shuttle service from Costa Calma, Esquinzo and Jandía, as well as to the areas of the lagoon where the training boards have been setup, as determined by the lagoon depth of water.
Centre Facilities & Services
Facilities include showers, changing rooms, lockers, WCs, sheltered sunbeds (at extra charge) and a beach bar which services drinks and snacks. WiFi is also available free of charge and there is a repair shop at the centre.

1 Review on “Rene Egli Windsurfing Centre”
Rene Egli Centre
Rene Egli Centre is the largest of its kind in the world. With this comes a lot of glossy marketing & hype, a lack of attention to detail by staff, a loss of personalised service and higher prices.
There is no doubt Rene Egli has some of the best rental gear on the planet! It was a please being able to change boards & rigs as often as I wanted as conditions changed. They update gear each year so most of it is pretty new. With this quality and range the top-end gear came at a premium price compared to other Centres in the Canary Islands.
I must say I was quite disappointed in this aspect of the business. When registering there seemed to be a real lack of systems and a definite lack of personalised attention. When I went to collect my gear the guy looking after the sails was more interested in chatting up the girls than doing his job. It did become quite frustrating and when I wanted to change sails I was treated as though it was a hard ask.
It is hard to beat the location as it is right on the water fronting the ocean and the training lagoon. I don’t recall a bar on-site however there was some nice spots to sit around in front of the centre.
I think based on the lack of attention to detail in service plus the higher cost of gear, the value was not as good as other centres around. However in saying this they really have a great location and quality gear so that compensates somewhat for their short-comings.
