Windsurfing Club Las Cucharas is a full-service windsurfing centre.
LOCATION:
Windsurfing Club Las Cucharas is located 200 m from the water activities launching area up a moderate-angle road/pathway. It is very central to the majority of accommodation in Costa Teguise making it an easy walk. If you do have a car there is a free public car parking area right next to the centre.
FACILITIES:
The centre has changing rooms, equipment washing, a shaded seating area and wifi and there is a restaurant/ bar immediately next door. There are no lockers so best leave you valuables at home although they will put them behind the desk for some security.
GEAR RENTALS:
The centre has a good range of windsurfers (mostly Fanatic) across most disciplines including Slalom, Wave, Freestyle and Foiling boards. They also have entry-level boards for beginners and kids.
They offer Duotone and Point-7 wave and freeride sails in various sizes up to 7.9 sqm.
They don't rent accessories separately however harnesses, life vests, impact vests, helmets and wetsuits are complimentary for those renting windsurfing gear.
Rentals can be pre-booked or you can walk-up and rent from 1 hour+. Various packages are available for multi-day rentals and they also offer a take-away service if you want to rent and travel to other areas around the island to sail.
Insurance is available for purchase as a separate item.
OTHER RENTAL EQUIPMENT:
If the wind isn't blowing don't panic! Windsurfing Club Las Cucharas also offer surf boards, Sups, Catamarans, Body Boards, Snorkeling Gear and even a Hawaiian Canoe.
They are also getting in some new windfoils so that could be a lot of fun to try on light wind days.
LESSONS & COACHING:
Tuition Services
The centre provides lessons with qualified instructors in English, German, French and Spanish.
They offer group lessons for first-timers and improvers in groups of 5 to 6 students per instructor. Instruction is currently provided from a zodiac and they are also experimenting with the use of radio helmets to enable tuition from the shore. Students must be at least 10 years of age.
If you are an advanced sailor wanting to learn some new tricks like advanced gybing, forward loops and other freestyle moves they can offer private lessons for this.
Other Services
They also offer supping lessons & surf camps and free photographic services to students
SAFETY:
They have 3 rescue craft and a safety observer is on the lookout at all times when students and renters are on the water. They share this service with the other centres in Costa Teguise making it efficient. Also given that lessons are taught from a boat beginners are never far from help should they need it.
HANG OUTS:
There is a nice cafe/bar (Poco Loco) right next door to the centre which has a good vibe, good food & drinks (including alcoholic beverages). There is some good shaded seating areas there and is a great place to catch up with friends & other sailors.

  Windsurfing Club Las Chucharis has a good range of boards and sails covering almost every windsurfing discipline however they only have a limited number of each type so pre-booking is advisable if you have a specific board / sail in mind.
  They have 2 rescue craft and a safety observer looking over the water at all times during business hours and lessons are taught from a boat so there is always someone close bye should someone come into any difficulty.
  The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable and all trainers are qualified.
  The location lost a few points because they are located approximately 200 m back from the beach (up a hill) meaning you have to carry your rented gear up and down to the beach which can take quite a bit of effort especially if the wind is gusty and you are trying to carry a large sail.
  There is a great hang-out right next door to the centre which has a great windsurfing/surfing vibe.
  Given the quality of equipment on offer and the professionalism of the staff we believe they represent good value.
