Famara is located in the North-Western side of Lanzarote (due north of Costa Teguise) and the kitesurfing sailing area is located at the base of the spectacular Famara cliffs.
The area is predominantly frequented by kitesurfers & surfers and the small nearby fishing village of Caleta de Famara has several kite & surf shops offering rental equipment and lessons.
The best wind directing is NE to N providing a side on-shore direction with a low-medium tide.
This is the exposed side of the island and hence all of the surf schools at Famara; so the kiting discipline is predominantly wave sailing.
The best months for constant wind are May to September however sailing is generally pretty good all year around.
