For dead flat speed sailing in S to SE. Dead south breeze for the longest runs in the flat water against the sand bank.
On a NE breeze you can sail on the south-western side of the same sand bank. From that sand bank you can also sail out into the river mouth to the waves.
Caution: the current does move very quick on the run out tide.
You can sail this spot any time of the year when the wind is blowing.
The nearby town is pretty small however there is a caravan park and a hotel plus a couple of holidays houses in the area.
Access
Park near the Marine Rescue Service.
You can either enter the water by carefully scurrying down the rock wall immediately behind the Marine Rescue Centre or walk (carrying your gear) for a few minutes along the wall to where the rock wall meets the sand. If you use the first option be sure to wear booties so you don’t cut your feet on the oyster shells.
