Bongaree, Bribie Island (QLD, Australia)
Windsurfing & Kitesurfing at Bongaree, Bribie Island
Bongaree is a great spot for intermediate & advanced flat-water sailors in a SW-S-SE breeze (particularly on an outgoing tide) with some bump-and-jump possible in the channel. At low tide there is some good speed sailing. There is also some nice wave jumping on small waves breaking on sandbars as tide goes out.
Kitesurfers tend to not frequent this spot very often due to the wind-shadow caused by the island and the deep water with strong currents (up to 8 knots).
Can be some sharks in the deeper water but haven’t posed any problems in the past.
Access, Rigging & Launching
The rigging / launching area is a nice spot for a picnic with grass, sand, trees and lots of parking
It is located take first right after jetty & follow beach to small car park at end of road
