Coronation Beach, Geraldton, WA
Coronation Beach – often referred to as “Corros”, is one of Australia’s top kitesurfing & windsurfing spots located 30 km north of Geraldton.
This spot is great for flat-water-blasting, bump & jump and small-medium wave sailing.
The spot works best in a southerly breeze and the best months are from October to March where the thermal afternoon breezes are most reliable.
The beautiful beach has turquoise-blue water and the climate is akin to the Mediterranean. Average day-time temperatures are around 24 deg C in Oct & April and around 30 deg C in Jan/Feb & March.
The only hazard to keep an eye on is the odd shark in the area.
Access, Rigging & Launching
Drive 28 km north of Geraldton to Howatharra where you will find the turn-off to the left to Coronation Beach. Drive about 8 km all the way to the end of the road where you will find a car park right near the beach.
Where To Stay
There is a remote camping ground right on the beach which is accessible by a sealed road and you don’t need to book. Dogs on leads are welcome but you will need to bring your own water & power.
Alternatively there is plenty of accommodation approx 30 mins drive away at Geraldton.
Other activities
There is some good long-board surfing at the south end of the beach as well as some great fishing from the beach.
