Kitesurfing at Eagles Point Silt Jetties
The Eagle Point Silt Jetties are located on the Gippsland Lakes (near Paynesville) in Eastern Victoria approximately 300km (3.5 hours drive) to the east of Melbourne.
This spot is frequented by local kitesurfers when the wind blows from the east during summer which is the common afternoon seabreeze generated by heat in the Latrobe Valley.
Access & Launching
Travel along the Rivermouth Road across the narrow strip and about 200 metres from the narrow strip you will find an unmade access track to the old school site.
There is a grass rigging behind scrub and ideally you may require assistance from a friend to launch.
The water at the launch area is shallow and protected making it a safe area to launch.
Where to Stay
If camping is your thing, there is a great holiday park located right on the water at Eagle Point just a couple of minutes drive from the silt jetties launching spot.
The park is pet friendly and offers powder sites and self-cater cabins.
Other Activities
Eagle Point is in a pristine environment with abundant wildlife and natural beauty. The Lake King foreshore is located directly in front of the park, perfect for family swimming, kayaking and water skiing and can also be a good launching spot for kitesurfing & windsurfing. The Silt Jetties are a popular place for fishing.
